Mazarron is an area of contrasts - cultivated fields of
tomatoes, magnificent mountains and rocky coves. The area has its own micro-climate due to the high mountains which surround it and protect it from the strong north winds. 80o is the annual average temperature. Mazarron is known for its colonies of migrating birds, including ducks, herons, egrets, hornfish, etc. In the mountains, eaglets, partridges and quails abound, as well as other wildlife such as foxes, rabbits and hares. The coastal region of Puerto de Mazarron is known as the Cornwall of Spain, with pretty, blue flag beaches, coves, harbours and pedestrianised walkways.
